A. GEGIA has formulated the Standards for Review of Game & Amusement Equipment in Guangdong Province ahead of other provinces, which was enacted for implementation in November 2016. GEGIA has also assisted the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China in drafting and formulating the Rules for Management of Game & Amusement Equipment that was enacted for implementation in November 2019.
B. Keeping the legitimate rights and interests of consumers in mind, GEGIA has researched and formulated the first group standard Code for Protection of Consumers’ Rights and Interests in Online Games in cooperation with 18 agencies and organizations including Shenzhen Institute of Consumption Quality and Shenzhen Internet Cultural Market Industry Association with the support from Shenzhen Consumer Council, which has been formally enacted for implementation on March 13, 2020.
A. GEGIA has been engaged in organization of game & amusement equipment content reviews and preliminary review therefor entrusted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province. Setting up and beginning to operate China’s first service platform for game & amusement equipment content review in early 2018, GEGIA has organized 17 game & amusement equipment content reviews that cover 3,475 sets of game & amusement equipment as of the third quarter of 2019, and has accepted applications regarding a total of 1,156 sets of game & amusement equipment throughout 2019.
B. GEGIA has also undertaken China’s national programs regarding game & amusement equipment, and successfully compiled series of research reports including Research Report on Identification of Properties of Gambling Machines, Standards for Classification of Game & Amusement Equipment, and Research on Guidelines for Review of Game & Amusement Equipment Content, amongst others.
C. From December 25 to 27, 2019, GEGIA successfully organized a national training course on management of the game & amusement equipment market upon the entrustment of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, providing management and relevant law-enforcement personnel of provincial cultural and tourism administrative departments with training on Rules for Management of Game & Amusement Equipment.
D. GEGIA assists the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province in organizing the Symposium on Special Regulation of Online Game Market of Guangdong Province and National Symposium on Game and Entertainment Industry annually.
E. GEGIA plays its role in establishing self-review and self-inspection systems, and organizes regular business training for relevant leaders of online cultural businesses in Guangdong annually, with a total of 7,300 person-times trained.
GEGIA organizes the Game Industry Annual Gala & Gold Diamond Ranking Awarding Ceremony of Guangdong Province, which is envisioned as an industry gala that with substantial influence on game circle throughout China. GEGIA also launches the “Gold Diamond Ranking” selection for the game industry guided by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, with a view to earnestly practice key task of deepening the institutional reform advocated by the State Council and Guangdong Province, explore and formulate rules for publishing culture rankings, set an example and facilitate the healthy development of the game industry.
GEGIA prepares the development report on game & animation industry in Guangdong annually entrusted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, suggesting the government from an objective perspective in its decision making. The 2016 Research Report on Development of Game Industry of Guangdong Province and the 2018 Research Report on Development of Animation Industry of Guangdong Province were selected as the outstanding research reports by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China.
In August 2019, GEGIA organized Asian Electronic Game & Amusement Equipment Online Expo 2019 (AEGAE Expo), the first overseas specialized expo in the game industry organized by an industry organization, in Bangkok, Thailand. As one of key overseas expos of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2019, the Expo attracted buyers from over 50 countries and regions including Southeast Asia, France, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, South Korea, etc. and achieved the intended transaction volume of up to RMB 30 million on the first day, enabling Chinese game & amusement enterprises to make their presence in Southeast Asia.
